Need to remove an old Kindle or Fire device from your Amazon account? Here's how to do it
If you use Amazon’s Alexa devices, a Kindle or even the Kindle app on a tablet, smartphone or laptop, you might be surprised to discover how many devices you have registered to your Amazon account. While there’s generally no harm in leaving old devices registered to your account, it’s good housekeeping to check from time to time and remove them.
Also, keeping on top of what devices are registered to your account means you’ll be able to spot if a hacker has used a device you don’t recognise to log in to your account. Here’s how to check.
On the Amazon website, click on the arrow next to Account & Lists in the top right next to the search field, and then select Manage Your Content and Devices.
On the left-hand side of the next page under the search box, click on Devices, and you’ll see a list of all the devices you’ve registered to your account over the years.

You can search for a specific device in the search filed above the Registration Date column, and you can filter by devices vs apps, and reorder the list from Newest-Oldest to Oldest-Newest, as well as Relevance, Name A-Z, Name Z-A, Type A-Z and Type Z-A.
If you decide you want to deregister a device or you spot a rogue device that you don’t recognise, you can remove it from your account. Click on the box with three horizontal dots next to the device you want to remove, and click Deregister.
You’ll see a warning that de-registering should only be done if you’re giving the device to someone else – it will wipe your data from it. If you’re happy to go ahead, click the orange Deregister button.
Once that's done, the device won't show up in your account any more and you can recycle it or give it to someone else.
