If you're getting rid of an old iPhone or iPad, it's important to wipe your data from the device first. Apple makes this process relatively easy, but it's important to clear all of the following:
- Contacts
- Calendars
- iTunes/App Store account
- iCloud syncing
How to wipe an old iPad or iPhone
On the old iPad or iPhone, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Account then scroll to the bottom and tap Sign out.
Next, tap Settings > iCloud and repeat this process.
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Store and sign out from your Apple ID.
Finally, tap Settings > General > Reset. From the list of options, select Erase all content and settings and confirm your choice. This will wipe your old iPad clean, but nothing on your new iPad will be affected.
