How to install apps on your iPad
To install an iPad app, first, press on the App Store icon. If it's the first time you have visited the store, it will ask you if you want to download Apple's own free apps, including its productivity apps such as Numbers and Keynote. You can either select Download All or Not Now, if you'd rather do this at a later date.
In the app store you can either browse the apps or search for something specific. Here's an example of how to search for the BBC iPlayer app.
Tap search in the top right-hand corner and enter "BBC iPlayer", to bring up the search results. Tap on the apps in the list to find out more about them and read user reviews. To download the app, tap the button which shows the cost of the app. BBC iPlayer is a free app, so it will simply say Free.
Once it's downloaded, press Open to start using the app.
How to move apps
You can move apps around so that the most important ones are on your homescreen (the main screen that shows when you start your iPad). To do this, press and hold down on the app icon – this will cause all the app icons to wobble. Drag the app icon to the left of the screen, which will then take you to the first homescreen. Drag the app to where you want it to sit, and release your finger from the screen. The apps will continue to wobble at this point – to save the selection and stop the apps from wobbling, press the home button.
How to make app folders
You can make folders to help organise your apps. To do this, simply press and hold down on an app icon so that it starts wobbling again, and drag it on top of the app icon that you want to group it with. Keep dragging other relevant apps on top of the first until you have all the apps you want grouped together. To save the selection, press the home button.
